Readers- We're letting the cartoon carry the weight today. This neatly sums up our "scandal fatigue" as well as anything we could think of. Thanks to David in SoCal for sending an email listing these scandals (and more, of course) and to Monty Python for simply existing.

The biggest scandal is that the voters of this country elected him twice and a large portion (40% according to a recent Quinnipiac poll) approve of his job performance. Not only is this a scandal in the present, but it bodes poorly for the survival of our republic.

"A republic, if you can keep it" indeed. Nothing like a little post-holiday,Monday morning, 4:30 AM, back to work to pay for the southern border invasion blues.

Brilliant! Cracker of a cartoon. I'm gob smacked!
Also, add to the list, the scandal of the missing birth certificate and the government worker who died after "finding" it.

"Scandal fatigue"

What an apt phrase. And how sad that we are all experiencing it.

Just In - Fox is saying Obama is going to back Princess Lieawatha and not Billary in 2016 - that ought to get BillyBob & Shrillery blowing spit bubbles. 'Course, Jarrett & Mooch told Obama to use BillyBob in the 2012 campaign and to blow the Clinton's off after he got re-elected. What's at play here is control of the Democratic Party, something Jarrett and Mooch want to keep in the Obama's camp. It's going to be fun watching the Dems eat themselves.

Peggy Noonan has a good piece in the WSJ re: Obama 'checking out' of the presidency. For those w/o a subscription, a link is below:

The Daydream And The Nightmare

Obama's latest whine is that he wants to change the law signed by Bush to speed up deportations of young illegals, but Congress won't let him (actually the Dem Senators are blocking the change, but we can't mention that!). This must be the only instance where he hasn't tried an executive order!

I am completely convinced that both the number and the frequency of scandals streaming out of this administration is by design. The emperor is counting on the average American having the attention span of a goldfish and therefore completely forgetting the last scandal in favor of the latest. This strategy, coupled with the MSM "look! There's a squirrel" tactic appears to be working flawlessly. The indoctrinated masses that have been brought up with the "if the commercial is more than 30 seconds long, I'm going to the kitchen" attitude has served very well to limit scrutiny of any and all of the blatant lies and criminal activities centered around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It appears to work very well to curtail questions by those who's duty demands investigation into such matters as well. In searching for an up-to-date list of Ă˜bama's scandals, I found that many websites also seem to have lost interest, and most have not added to their list since late last year. Yep, the policy of "if someone starts asking too many questions about one scandal, simply start another one" seems to be working without fail.

Ah, but they are some of the best scandals money can hide, cover up, twist, tweak and twerk into twizzle-sticks to beat the brains of busy people - though, as the director of the Thousands Points of Blight program said: you've talked about too many scandals -- you mentioned more than your fair share -- you are allowed only 3 scandals, and you've mentioned a dozen. Please select your three favorite scandals. Thank you.

On the other hand, both Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are gearing up their presidential runs -- ah, nothing like a classic Nor'easter liberal mush attack, and well, the HillBillys better batten down the hatches.

Though, of course, it's supposedly all the well laid out plans of the Clown-Pillar strategy (yah, them) -- but, well, the best laid plans of mice and men go awry.

You're all right on today. The list of daily assaults on those who are aware of our destruction continues to grow.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Pamecon- There are so many scandals that it's almost impossible for critics to simultaneously invest emotion in all of them. A brilliant and horrible strategy by this White House.

@rickn8or- I think it shows a charming optimism on your part that you refer to "next week's scandal" in the singular. Currently, I expect at least two or three new ones each week.

@TrickyRicky- As depressing as this presidency is (and that's plenty), it is more depressing that so many voters continue to embrace greed and ignorance. Obama can screw up our present, but it's the voters who are ruining our future.

@Sparky- Glad you enjoyed the cartoon. For anyone who doesn't know the original Monty Python "Cheese Shop" sketch that this is based on (including Mrs. Jarlsberg), just click on the words "Monty Python" in the commentary.

@CenTexTim- Sadly, the reaction many people have to scandal fatigue is to just shrug and ignore future scandals rather than put a stop to them. Damn it.

@Grumpy Curmudgeon- I've read that Barry wants to support anyone other than Hillary so he can still be a player if his pick gets elected. And I know some liberals who are over the moon for Elizabeth "Princess Running Gag" Warren. As you say, it could be a lot of fun to really see the Clintons and Obamas in head-on collision mode.

And Peggy Noonan's piece was great (I subscribe to the print edition of WSJ because it helps sustain my belief in civilization).

@Grumpy Curmudgeon- Benjamin Franklin was a wise man. Now if we could just convince that 47% to start flying kites in electrical storms...

@Geoff King- I agree with everything you're saying. It seems like many people can't both to read anything longer than a tweet these days, or remember anything for even 24 hours. I believe that computers and social media have significantly damaged people's ability to absorb information, analyze it, or hang onto it.

We are witnessing the birth of the hive mind - a communal intelligence which is thoughtless but continually buzzing.

@Jim Hlavac- I wish I could just pick 3 scandals to hold against this administration.

@Judi King- And how about Obama using the 4th of July to announce that he will illegally circumvent Congress in order to facilitate the destruction of our borders and the importation of illegals into our country? Irony anyone?

@Stilton ~ I cut my comedic teeth on Monty Python jokes. I'm a big fan of British humor. Monty is a classic to be sure. And using that sketch as a prime example of O'Blamers scandals is perfect.

During the '90s while I was an on-line moderator for a major national newspaper as they experimented with "the world wide interweb", I fantasized about building a database documenting and linking the various scandals from the Clinton Administration, which was also the "most transparent administration in history" at the time. Upon further consideration, it was clear that doing so would be a full-time job. (Which, I already had) I can't imagine how much time it would take to do the same for the Obama Administration. I don't even have the spare time to deal with the inevitable IRS audit.

Fortunately, we have the good Dr.S here to effectively do the same thing for free. His site even includes humorous graphics!

As much as I really want to solely blame our stupid countrymen for not (figuratively) holding President Boyfriend's feet to the fire over his plethora of scandals, we can never forget the criminally complicit media.

They lie about the issues they report on (Hobby Lobby being the most recent and most blatant), they opt not to cover stories, and they serve more as a lapdog to the Administration than the rabid attack dogs they were under GW Bush (and against him, specifically).

The short-attention span public is a problem, but ask yourself this:

If the media hammered away at even a few of these issues the way they did gas prices, the American dead being brought home from the Middle East, and the "Imperial" Presidency of Bush, what do you think President Boyfriend's approval numbers would REALLY look like?

Worst President since 1945, and that is with Candy Crowley et all putting their thumbs on the scale. Obama is nothing without a complicit media to prop him up and distract for him.

"Fox is saying Obama is going to back Princess Lieawatha and not Billary in 2016 - "

I wonder what it's gonna take to buy Hillary off this time; in 2008, it was the promise of the Secretary of State Job.

A Lieawatha/Shrillary ticket? Don't think so, Princess Spreading bull is not that brave/stupid.

And just what are the Dems gonna do about Slow Joe?

Grumpy Curmudgeon said...

@rickn8or: Actually, makes sense if you follow some knowledgeables that say she won't run because of a number of real factors, not counting how she has stuck her foot in her mouth recently, especially with the income equality (Warren) crowd. Uncle Joe was never in the equation, in fact, he's getting used to the feeling of the duallys on the Obama bus. If you eliminate Shillary, who have the Dems left? Cumo? Sanders?

You are right, brother! Anyone who even gives this bunch a 'smidgen' of benefit of the doubt needs to realize that Obama and Hillary both, as well as those students who came before, are simply following the 'Rules for Radicals' laid out by Saul Alinsky! I'm talking, to the letter! It is not some overnight thing that Alinsky suggests, but a patient, 'progressive' undermining of everything that made our country great! If you haven't already, check it out!

@Stilton,
Totally inspired! Seeing all (well probably not ALL) of the scandals presented on the same page is breathtaking. No small wonder the American public seems so punch drunk, weary and jaded. Of course, the moonbats are all quite satisfied to look the other way or poke their heads into the sand. Still... there is a small, but growing number of Dems who are starting to become lucid, perhaps... maybe... Lord I hope so...

@Grumpy,
Thanks for posting that great article by Peggy Noonan. She is very talented, and that article really started me thinking (which, for you liberals out there, an article is SUPPOSED to do). She stated that normally a sports team will run the clock out when they're winning, not when they're losing like O'Liar. I beg to differ slightly. If you're in a football game and it's the fourth quarter and you're getting your butt handed to you 62-3, it's time to cut your losses and get the thing over with ASAP. O'liar loves himself more than anybody in the whole wide world, so no big mystery he's detaching himself to avoid the possibility of being criticized.

I just pray that A) by 2017, we still have the semblance of a free country left to repair, B) We elect some folks that are up to the task, and C) O'Liar and his little circle of socialists live their lives out broke and humiliated. Preferrably, in prison.

Someone please explain this Benghazi thing to me, cause I'm a bit confused.

Okay, so the organizer of the attack confessed it was inspired fully by an anti-Muslim video on youtube.

The sites security was down because of Republican budget cuts.

No informed person has been able to suggest any form of way to save those en after news came in.

Whats the scandal here?

Anonymous said...

What, nothing about the birth certificate? It seems everyone is overlooking the most obvious.

Judi King said...

The "obvious" doesn't need to be stated you moron.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Readers- "Anonymous" above is clearly just a troll (and in fact, I nuked one of his/her/its earlier comments).

But adding to Pete's responses...

1) It has yet to be determined if this "organizer of the attack" was even a major player rather than just an easy to arrest underling. Moreover, there's been no official word of the confession you refer to (the NY Times did refer to "unnamed sources" that said something similar, though this is a lot like quoting your "imaginary friend").

2) A State Department official testified under oath that there were no budgetary considerations brought to bear in determining the amount of security.

3) Plenty of "informed people" have come forward with ways that we could have changed the outcome and perhaps saved four lives (and many casualties).

4) The scandal is that morons like you blindly worship a self-proclaimed demi-god who is wearing the blood of Americans.

Anonymous said...

@Pete: 1) So you KNOW something, despite the fact that the person who actually knows the reasons for the attack - the person who did it - says that it was, in fact, the video.

There's a word for something you KNOW is true that isn't - wrong.

2) Its such a shame then that its still down to Congress on what money can and cannot be spent on. Since they cut Embassy security funds, its still on them, regardless of what money they had allocated for other expenses that Secretary Clinton took part in.

3) The only possible way that anyone would have been able to get there in time was if the US was capable of magically teleporting its troops in, or that there are jets sitting on the runway, 24 hours a day, fueled up, ready to leave at a moments notice. No scenario exists where any US serviceman with the technology available today could have intervened.

4)So the Daily Mail heard rumors of a thing? I heard rumors that House Republicans only organized

@Stilton:

1)So, you're claiming that the man everyone realted to the event is pointing to and all avilabale data shows was one of the ringleaders is just some random guy because....?

Also, no, its a firsthand interview with Ahmed Abu Khattala in which he says multiple times that it was, in fact, the video. Mayb you should read something real about Benghazi, not something that fits your narrative.

2)So, you're both trying to claim that the security being inadequate was a major scandal that Obama should be impeached over, and nothing out of the ordinary that is not the fault of anyone. Does it get hard to keep these positions straight, or do you have a chart?

3) Huh. "Informed people", a term accompanied by no names or specifics. Its almost as if you're just quoting your imaginary friend, and unlike the NY times, you're not giving a transcript.

4)Really? Cause from where I'm sitting the scandal seems to be that people are trying to blow everything and anything into a gigantic proportion cause they are so very very desperate to tar this President with scandals. Gee, I wonder what it is about this president that people are so desperate to sully, and so very hateful of that they'll turn everything into scandal. What is it that darkens their perception of him......

JustaJeepGuy said...

Well, "Anonymous", if you just look at the number of "incidents" (had there been a Republican in office, you'd definitely call them SCANDALS) to which Barack Hussein is connected, you'd have to start wondering how many "incidents" have to occur before start to see the scandals. Your fellow-travelers were ready to lynch Nixon just for Watergate and nobody died there. Go back and count the SCANDALS of Obama in Stilton's cartoon and tell us if something isn't starting to smell fishy in Demo_Ratland. When even Demo_Rats don't want to be seen with Barack Hussein, (Mark Udall for one) something's going on.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Anonymous- What a shock, you're back with another fact-free list of assertions with no supporting evidence. But just for grins, let's run down your points...

(Your response to Pete)

1) We don't yet know if the suspect was "the person who did it" (in your words). Nor has there been an official report anywhere about his motivations - and a very substantial body of intelligence saying that the video had nothing to do with the attack.

2) The State Department testified before Congress that budget considerations had NO EFFECT on Embassy security. Look it up.

3) Actually, the US does tend to have troops and jets ready to scramble at all times - and especially so if the people allegedly in charge of military planning prepare for sensitive dates like the anniversary of 9/11.

There has been plenty of testimony (again, before Congress) about military force which could have arrived in time if it had been dispatched at the point we knew - knew - that a terrorist attack was occurring.

4) Considering your lack of information, I'm surprised you disparage "rumors" from any source.

(Per your response to me)

1) I don't assert any such thing. What I'm saying is that the accusations haven't been proved, and there is considerable reason to suspect that this guy inflated his role while sipping drinks and being interviewed by the press.

And yes, I know what he said in those interviews - but it doesn't square with the intelligence community's assessment of what happened. So just maybe Khattala is parroting Obama's lie about the video to engender sympathy and support from other radical Islamics.

2) Get your head out of your ass. The lack of security was and is a HUGE scandal, though it should be laid at Hillary's door. The lack of security and the repeated denial of additional security was a choice made by the administration which wasn't based on budget considerations.

3) Regarding "informed people," you can go back and read my posts which were contemporaneous following the attack. I name names and link to legitimate news sources. But I'm sure as hell not going to laundry list them here since you clearly wouldn't benefit anyway.

4) And there it is- your magic trump card when every other argument fails: an accusation of racism.

Have you ever thought that just maybe it's actually racist to excuse ineptitude and malfeasance in this president which no white president could get away with?

I respect Obama enough to evaulate him as a man rather than a racial mascot. Too bad that you can't do the same.
